The LHDA understands the importance of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project to the Kingdom of Lesotho and the Republic of South Africa from the political, economic and social perspectives and the value of communication. Given the project’s stature and complexity, the LHDA interacts with a range of stakeholders at different levels. These groups are directly and indirectly affected by LHDA operations and the implementation of Phase II. Included among them are the governments of Lesotho and South Africa, the Lesotho Highlands Water Commission, communities, non-governmental organisations, consultants and contractors and internal audiences.
Regular, open and frank communication with each of these groups is critical and valued. Creating opportunities for stakeholders to express their views and concerns in order for the LHDA to consider and address them is a fundamental communications objective of the LHDA.
It is against this background that the LHDA has clearly defined communication channels that ensure two-way communication between the LHDA and its stakeholders.
