His Execellency President Joachim Chissano visited the Kingdom of Lesotho and the LHWP for two days on 2-3 November. The President traveled to Mohale dam on 3 November,2004 where he had lunch overlooking the splendour of the man- made lake, the Mohale reservoir.

Over the years the implementation of the LHWP dams has contributed to attracting world re-knowned and esteemed leaders.
a) His Majesty King Letsie III visited Ts'ehlanyane Nature Reserve on 18 September, 2004.

b) The Right Honourable, The Prime Minister of Lesotho, saw it fit to hold a 3-day introspection session for Lesotho Cabinet Ministers and Principal Secretaries at Ha Mohale Lodge overlooking the Mohale reservoir splendour in August 2004.
c) His Excellency Festus Mogae, and First Lady of the Republic of Botswana came to Lesotho and visited the LHWP and Katse dam on 16 April, 2004
d) The Principal Chief of Matsieng, Morena Seeiso Bereng Seeiso accompanied Prince Harry of the United Kingdom to the LHWP Project Sites in April, 2004.
e) His Majesty King Letsie III together with His Excellency The President of South Africa, Thabo Mbeki officiated at the Inauguration of Phase 1B and completion of the forst phase of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project on 16 March, 2004.
f) The World Bank Vice- President on Africa's portfolio, Mr Callisto Madavo visited during the scheduled World Bank Supervision of September 2003. His presence resulted in the LHWP being rewarded a Satisfactory performance rating.
g) His Excellency Kofi Annan, Secretary General of the United Nations, touched Lesotho soil in August 2002 when he attended the Johannesburg World Summit Meeting . He proceeded to Mohale dam where he planted an indigeneous tree to commemorate his first visit to the Country. He received a meritorius award by His Majesty, King Letsie III. Maseru-by pass road also received a new name, Kofi Annan Road, in continuing to commemorate the historic visit of the UN Secretary General.
h) The Right Honourable the Prime Minister of Lesotho, Ntate Pakalitha Mosisili, Cabinet Ministers and Members of Lesotho Parliament visited various Project sites on 22 May, 2002.He addressed the communities who had come to welcome him at each stopover.
i) The Water Committee Portfolio of the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa headed by Ms B Sonjica toured the LHWP for two days from 23-25 February in 2001. Ms Sonjica is the current Minister of Water Affairs and Forestry.
j) The Managing Director at the World Bank Mr. Zhang toured the LHWP between 14-15 February, 2000.
k) Dr. Uschi Eid, the Deputy Minister for Economic Co-operation in the Federal Republic of Germany was in Lesotho and in the Project area in February, 1999.
l) The former Presidents of the Republic of South Africa, Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, Botswana, Mr. Quett Masire together with His Majesty King Letsie III, inaugurated the official Water Transfer to the Republic of South Africa on 22 January, 1998.
m) The late Queen Mother of the Kingdom of Lesotho, Nkhono 'Mamohato Bereng Seeiso during early construction days of Katse dam in 1990 and later when she accompanied, Queen Mother of the Kingdom of Swaziland in 2000.
The list demonstrates commitment and support of World Leaders to the Lesotho Highlands Water Project. It is our fervent hope that the Leaders will use their influence to ensure that the LHWP increasingly continues to be instrumental in attracting foreign investment in its various aspects.
