Release of Water at Katse Dam on Tuesday 17/12

The Lesotho Highlands Development Authority (LHDA) wishes
to inform members of the public that on Tuesday December 17, 2002 water will be
released at the Katse Dam from 07:00 AM untill 22:00 the same day.
The purpose of the exercise is to conduct some studies related to the
Instream Flow Requirements (IFR) in the Maliba-Matso and Senqu Rivers.
The communities dwelling close to the rivers are
therefore warned that water in the rivers will start to rise from 07:00 AM and
will subside at around 04:00 AM the following day (December 18, 2002).
The public is therefore warned to be careful when they
cross or when they work in the rivers because there will be increased amounts of
water. Communities are also
requested to co-operate peacefully with the study teams. The exercise will go on
until very late in December 17, 2002.
