Mr Mahase Thokoa receives the HSRC Team

The acting Monitoring and Evaluation Manager, Mr. Mahase Thokoa held a workshop session with the Human Sciences Research Council Team from Pretoria in South Africa, at 3rd floor LHDA Board room on 28 June, 2005. The South African Team will conduct a research study on the Socio- Economic & Epidemiology Impact Survey in the LHWP sites. 

The purpose is to determine how the mitigation strategies in place and which are embodied in the Environmental Action Plan (EAP) have ensured that livelihoods of the people affected by the numerous and various activities of the LHWP, have been maintained or improved.

The meeting was also about getting to know one another where the HSRC Team was introduced to the LHDA and vice-versa. Messrs Johan van Zyl and John de Klerk as well as Ms Marie Wentzel, formed the HSRC team. Messrs Thokoa, Mateka, Lerotholi, Mosaase, Pama, Ramoeletsi and Ms Mochaba, Mrs Qheku, Mrs Ramoholi comprised the LHDA team.

It is expected that the study will commence in mid July 2005 and continue for a period of fifteen months.
