THE LHDA RELEASES WATER FROM KATSE DAM FROM 30 JUNE- 2 JULY, 2005

The Lesotho Highlands Development Authority (LHDA) informs the public that water will be released from Katse dam from 30 June, 2005 at 08:00hrs to 2 July at 08:00hrs and at a rate of 2.6 cubic metres per second.

The release is in keeping with the Lesotho Highlands Water Project Treaty requirement wherein In-stream Flow Requirements must be effected downstream of the LHWP dams to ensure sustainability of livelihoods for communities and  maintenance of ecological resources along the length of Malibamats’o river from Ha Katse to Thaba-Tseka.

The press release is intended particularly to advice members of the public downstream of Katse dam to exercise great caution in their daily use of the Malibamats’o river stretch  to avoid threats to lives and property  during period 30 June – 3 July, 2005.
